Art Basel 48th edition Announces Stellar Gallery Line-Up

Art Basel, which is now in its 48th edition has released an impressive gallery list for the fair in Basel, Switzerland, which takes place from June 15 to June 18, 2017. This year, 291 leading international galleries will present works ranging from the early 20th century to contemporary artists. The Basel show, whose Lead Partner is UBS, will present galleries from 34 countries and six continents.

Iconic Underground Comix Art c 1970 Sells For $1.6m At Heritage

The world’s largest collection of original Underground Comix Art crushed several artist world records when it sold for a combined $1,605,016 during Heritage Auctions’ presentation of the Eric Sack Collection Nov. 17-19 in Beverly Hills. The collection set an artist auction record for Robert Crumb for his four-page complete story from Thrilling Murder Comics #1, which sold for $143,400.

Record £1.33m For Tintin Explorers On The Moon Drawing By Herge

A black and white Tintin drawing has broken all records by selling for €1.55m (£1.33m; $1.64m). The original pen and ink from the book Explorers on the Moon was created by the Belgian cartoonist Georges Remi, better known as Herge. It had been estimated to fetch between €700,000-900,000 before the sale.
