Museum of Transology Launched To Celebrate Brighton’s LGBTQ Residents

This summer Brighton Museum launches Be Bold, a series of collaborative events and exhibitions funded by Arts Council England and programmed in partnership with Brighton & Hove’s LGBTQ communities. The exhibitions aim to reflect the experiences of the city’s LGBTQ residents and begin with the acclaimed Museum of Transology.

Cuban art reached out to the Modernist Movement almost as soon as it began. And Cuba has always had links to what was going on in the mainland nations of Latin America. Art in Jamaica, linked to the UK, remained consistently more conservative.

The title of the show, ‘Silvering’, refers to Swayne’s use of silver and gold grounds and aluminium and copper surfaces, reflecting the artist’s interest in the surface quality and material value of her work.

Chris Ofili To Unveil New Tapestry At London’s National Gallery

The National Gallery will unveil a new tapestry by the Turner Prize-winning artist Chris Ofili. Titled the Caged Bird’s Song, the exhibition marks the first time the artist has worked in the medium of tapestry and will include a series of preparatory works on paper in an installation conceived by the artist for the Gallery’s Sunley Room.
