Moco Museum London, a new shopfront gallery in Marble Arch London, is set to unveil a new performance exhibition by the globally renowned artist Marina Abramović and titled Healing Frequency. The exhibition will open on 11 September at the museum’s new flagship location.

This innovative exhibition features 12 works from Abramović’s acclaimed series, Transitory Objects for Human Use, including a newly acquired piece that now forms part of Moco’s collection. The exhibition aims to foster a communal healing experience, inviting visitors to participate in silence, reflection, and conversation.

The exhibition will highlight a significant chapter in Abramović’s career by featuring a series of chairs, beds, and benches adorned with her signature crystals. These objects are designed for public interaction, encouraging moments of contemplation and a deeper connection with performance art.

At the heart of the exhibition is the newly acquired Chair for Human Use with Chair for Spirit Use, featuring two chairs where visitors can sit facing each other, creating a shared moment of energy. Abramović describes this as ‘activating the power of art.’

Healing Frequency challenges visitors to disconnect from reliance on technology and embrace personal enlightenment through artistic expression. The exhibition underscores the transformative power of performance art, emphasizing its potential to catalyze change within the artist and the audience.

Marina Abramović commented on the exhibition: “The power of performance art lies in its ability to transform both the artist and the audience. The artist’s body is the medium, as is the observer’s. Moco understands the importance of direct experience in activating the power of art.”

Kim Logchies Prins, co-founder of Moco Museum, expressed enthusiasm for the exhibition, saying, “This exhibition aligns seamlessly with Moco Museum’s ethos of celebrating exploration, introspection, and audience engagement. Marina Abramović’s focus on the depths of human experience resonates with our commitment to showcasing thought-provoking contemporary art. By inviting participatory elements to Abramović’s renowned works, we hope to foster a dynamic exchange of ideas and experiences that embodies our museum’s interactive approach to artistic expression.”

Through Healing Frequency, Moco Museum and Marina Abramović invite visitors to reassess their reliance on technology and explore the potential for personal and collective transformation through the power of art. The exhibition promises to be a profound and engaging experience, highlighting the essential role of performance art in contemporary society.
