LONDON — Chain of Hope has unveiled a star-studded art exhibition and auction to support global children’s cardiac care. To raise crucial funds for its life-saving mission, the international charity Chain of Hope has announced a high-profile art exhibition and auction set to take place at the prestigious Saatchi Gallery in London. The event, centred around the theme “Share Your Heart,” will showcase original works by a roster of celebrated artists, designers, and cultural icons, including Sir Anthony Gormley, Conrad Shawcross, Shirin Neshat, Idris Khan, and fashion luminaries such as Bella Freud and Kate Moss. The initiative aims to support Chain of Hope’s critical work providing cardiac care to children in developing and conflict-ridden regions worldwide. The charity has enlisted an impressive array of contributors to interpret the heart motif in diverse and imaginative ways, resulting in a collection of paintings, drawings, and photographs that range from poignant to playful.
Curated by Maria Sukkar, a prominent arts patron and advocate, the exhibition will feature twelve standout pieces available for public viewing and purchase. A live auction of these works will be held at the Saatchi Gallery on February 6th, while an online auction of the remaining 59 pieces will run from January 28th to February 7th.
The collection promises a visual feast, with each artist offering a unique take on the heart theme. Rana Begum, known for her luminous, colour-infused installations, presents a heart adorned with vibrant, glowing spheres. Multidisciplinary artist Shezad Dawood draws inspiration from nature, crafting a lush still life of white anthuriums that echoes the grandeur of 17th-century Dutch masterpieces. Meanwhile, the artist duo Nick and Rob Carter deliver a mesmerizing, almost surreal interpretation of the iconic shape.
“This is a rare opportunity to acquire one-of-a-kind works while supporting a vital cause,” said a spokesperson for Chain of Hope. “The response from the artistic community has been overwhelming, and we’re thrilled to bring these pieces to the public.”
The event highlights the power of art to inspire and unite and underscores the urgent need for accessible cardiac care for children in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities. For collectors and philanthropists alike, the exhibition offers a chance to own exclusive works while contributing to a life-saving mission.
The “Share Your Heart” exhibition opens to the public on February 6th at the Saatchi Gallery, with the online auction accessible via Chain of Hope’s website.
All of the artworks have been generously donated, and proceeds will support the incredible work of Chain of Hope. Emma Scanlan, CEO of Chain of Hope, highlighted the importance of the Share Your Heart initiative:
“It is a little-known fact that one baby in every hundred is born with heart disease. Around the world, many of these children lack access to the life-saving treatment they need. This campaign is a beautiful way to raise awareness and give individuals the opportunity to make a tangible difference. Each piece of art purchased helps us continue our vital work providing treatment for children in developing and war-torn countries through our network of volunteer surgeons and medical teams. Buying a heart isn’t just a unique Valentine’s gift—it’s a link in the Chain to mend children’s hearts.”
Bidding opens at shareyourheart.co.uk on January 30th. Your support can help children’s lives; in the last year alone, Chain of Hope facilitated 384 complex cardiac procedures worldwide for children.
