Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, named as the buyer of the highly contentious Salvator Mundi painting by Leonardo da Vinci has declined the loan of the painting to the Louvre in Paris for the large Da Vinci 500 Years show, set for this Autumn.

We now know that the Louvre Abu Dhabi is going to exhibit Leonardo Da Vinci’s “Salvator Mundi,” which sold last month in a Christie’s Contemporary sale in New York for a cool $450 million. However the identity of the buyer has remained a secret with speculation now focusing on the Abu Dhabi Royals as the purchaser.

Leonardo da Vinci’s Salvator Mundi. Painted by one of the Renaissance greatest masters is to go under the hammer at Christie’s. Titled Salvator Mundi, it is one of fewer than 20 known paintings by Leonardo and the only one in private hands.
