Marco Godoy: My we, your we, our we

Marco Godoy Copperfield

Copperfield, London presents My we, your we, our we, Marco Godoy’s (b.1986, Madrid) second solo show with the gallery.

The skin. It holds us together.

It’s the largest organ, formed by millions of cells and its thickness ranges from 0.5 millimetres to 1 centimetre.
The border between my “inside” and my “outside” also varies.

The metal wires that make up barbed wire are barely millimetres thick.
In some cases, skin is thicker than barbed wire.

And what about the borders between countries?
The average length of a border also varies, like
skin, between three meters and three kilometres.

And, the thickness of a passport?
The passport that permits me to cross the border line
measures a few millimetres. Just a few millimetres…

We are a we that create distances between ourselves.
My we, your we.

What is the distance between conflicts? Between ideologies?
…how many centimetres exist between what I believe and what you believe?
