Spencer Tunick Creates Naked Lockdown Zoom Happening

Spencer Tunick Nude Happening on Zoom

Stay Apart Together is a naked conference call by the internationally known artist Spencer Tunick. The artist is recognised for his global nude happenings.

The project is intended to be a creative outlet for participants quarantined at home, an artistic exploration of the possibilities of human connection in the virtual world but most importantly, an invitation to stay strong, safe and united. It consists of a series of short videos.

Tunick has been documenting live nude figures in public since 1992

They are inviting people who have the patience to go through a series of poses and set-ups to sign up—only one person per household. Screengrabs/photographs and video will document the live nude artworks.

Chosen participants will be contacted by email shortly with further instructions. Please only sign up if you are committed to participating. The artist will create photographs of the video chat by using screen grabs in the same manner that a camera’s shutter would be used.

They are looking for people to be in diptychs with a faraway family member, friend or stranger with something in common. If anyone proposes an idea, Spencer may be able to make that happen. If there someone you always wanted to pose with, but distance and the pandemic have made it impossible, this is an excellent opportunity to connect.

With the pandemic still raging around the world, especially in Europe, ‘Stay Apart Together’ reaffirms the resilience of community and human connection in times of isolation.

Spencer Tunick is a renowned artist and photographer who has created more than 100 installations around the world. Spencer has been documenting the live nude figure in public, with photography and video, since 1992. Since 1994, he has organised installations that encompass dozens, hundreds or thousands of volunteers, and his photographs are records of these events. His career has been noted for the largest nude participatory happenings of any modern artist. Since first photographing nudes in his native New York during the early 1990s, the hugely popular artist has devoted himself to “performance photography”, directing men and women to embed themselves within well-known landscapes and locations.

In exchange for posing, Spencer Tunick will email you a file of the work you are in and print it yourself.
