Drawn to Another World is a solo exhibition of works by Alexander Hinks.
Predominately a process painter, Alexander’s practice has also broadened into installations and virtual reality, as he pushes concepts of structure, chaos and the sublime. The title of the exhibition comes from his virtual reality collaboration with Oli Lane. This piece will be projected onto a floating bamboo installation that merges physical and virtual space. The main walls of the gallery will be covered in expanding paintings than literally leave the canvas and allude to the infinite. Hinks’s paintings consist of fluid landscape backgrounds set against hard-edge woven structures that generate a contrasting nebula expanse. Alexander is also revisiting his Earth to Unknown installation that sets illuminated taut rope shooting to the ceiling against loose reels on the ground, polarising the organic and the intangible. This exhibition promises many diverse works that have an underlining affiliation with explosive elements to overwhelm the viewer.
