The countdown to Art Basel Miami Beach is on! The culture elite is gearing up for a whirlwind few days of cutting-edge galleries, glitzy parties, and all the electrifying energy Miami brings each December. From December 6–8, the Miami Beach Convention Center transforms into the epicentre of the modern and contemporary art world, but trust us- it’s so much more than just an art fair.
This year, Art Basel Miami Beach is making waves under the fresh direction of Bridget Finn, a trailblazer bringing a dealer’s perspective to the fair for the first time since its 2002 debut. With 286 galleries representing 38 countries—and a strong focus on the Americas—expect a showcase that reflects Miami’s unique cultural crossroads. Highlights include:
- Dynamic new works in the Nova sector.
- Experimental presentations in Positions for emerging talent.
- Thought-provoking historical pieces in Survey.
The iconic Galleries sector will anchor the event, featuring industry heavyweights displaying their most exceptional works.
But here’s the thing: Art Basel Miami Beach is only the centrepiece of what has become a week-long art celebration, primarily known as Miami Art Week. It’s a glittering blend of satellite fairs, gallery openings, fashion-forward brand pop-ups, and late-night soirees. Think: New York’s art elite rubbing elbows with stylish locals, all in a city pulsing with creativity.
What’s New at Art Basel This Year?
With major galleries like Hong Kong’s Pearl Lam, White Cube, and the Gagosian on the roster, this year’s fair promises a global perspective. Some highlights include works from MAHKU, photographic tributes to the late activist Agosto Machado, and vibrant showcases from galleries representing Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, and beyond.
Art Basel Miami Beach is the centrepiece of Miami Art Week, a dizzying spectacle of Art and culture that turns the city into a playground for the art world’s elite, stylish locals, and what feels like half of New York each December. This week-long extravaganza overflows with art fairs, gallery openings, brand activations, and late-night parties. Art Basel is the centrepiece of the global art scene, focusing on modern and contemporary Art, with its flagship fairs in Hong Kong, Basel, Miami Beach, and, more recently, Paris.
Not Just Art—It’s an Experience
The fair is far more an immersive experience year on year. Art Basel’s Conversations series will dive into the big ideas shaping today’s art world, featuring panel talks with leading artists, curators, and collectors. Plus, every inch of the Convention Center will pulse with installations and curated spaces designed to captivate and challenge.
What’s the damage?
General admission to the fair costs $85 for a single-day ticket, with hourly entry slots available from noon to 4 p.m. (subject to availability). Want to beat the crowds? Opt for First Access tickets at $120, which get you in starting at 11 a.m.
Miami Beach residents, seniors, and veterans can snag reduced single-day tickets for $65, while kids aged 12 and under can join the fun for just $10.
Are you looking to make the most of your visit? VIP and multi-day ticket options are also available. Tickets are available now—get yours online before they sell out!
Art Week Vibes: Where to Be Seen
Beyond the Convention Center, Miami Art Week is a takeover. Scope and Untitled satellites will bring those moments, A-list sightings from behind the velvet rope, and buzzy brand installations. Pro tip: Save time for excellent dining close to the front—plenty of bubbly between gallery hops.
December in Miami just hit a cultural high note.

Running from November 21, 2024, through January 19, 2025, this deeply human showcase highlights Sergei Grant, a barber and entrepreneur whose story is as uplifting as it is inspiring. From overcoming personal struggles to mentoring young barbers and offering mobile haircuts to those in need, Grant’s work is captured in a striking portrait and intimate photographs of local youth and patrons of the barbershop.

Vanessa Raw: This is How the Light Gets In
2024 Artist-in-Residence Opening December 2, 2024
Born in 1984 in Hexham, England, Raw lives and works in Margate, England, and her presentation at the Rubell Museum Miami marks her first exhibition in the United States and her first institutional show. In these newly commissioned, large-scale works, Raw’s distinctive layered brushwork and expressive use of colour depict a dream-like, all-female world—an earthly paradise where the natural world is benevolent and sentient and where female desire is central. A former triathlete, Raw’s practised mastery of her own body transfers to her work on canvas. Her figures are tranquil and at ease but have agency. They revel in the company of each other and in the landscape that is lush and soft and ripe with colour—paradise found.

Don’t forget the parties…
Miami Art Week isn’t just about soaking up world-class art—it’s also about global art, design and fashion. Think glamorous parties and celeb sightings galore. This is the week where art meets after dark, from exclusive gallery dinners and private talks to gallery openings and over-the-top yacht parties. It’s non-stop, high-energy fun that takes over the city.
Want in on the action? Parties are usually private. It doesn’t matter what you look like. You’re not going to get in unless you’re on the iPad. Tip: if you are a serious collector, you will already have been invited to several events. After all, this is a commercial week of events. Try getting on the ABMB VIP list at the convention centre and make yourself known to the galleries that hold the best parties. Rumour has it. Not even White Cube is going the party route this year.
We will add to this as it reaches our desk over the week.
