7. Clyfford Still Scratched, Punched And More
In January 2012, a drunk Denver woman named Carmen Tisch decided to add to a $30 to $40 million painting by artist Clyfford Still by scratching it, punching it, and then wiping her bare backside on it. Once this particular act of art defilement was complete, the crazed art vandal felll to the floor and subsequently wet herself. The painting was spared any contact with the urine, but still sustained about $10,000 worth of damage. The police were called immediately following the offense, and Tisch was arrested and charged with criminal mischief. The vandal’s mother described her as a long-time alcoholic, having previously been convicted for drunk driving. It would seem that Tisch was not a fan of art, even though ironically the work that she attacked was expressionistic.
