5. Jeff Koons – Marrying A Porn Star To Make Art
The art world gasped when American Pop artist Jeff Koons married Hungarian porn star Ilona Staller – or La Cicciolina as she was more commonly known – expressly for the purposes of making highly explicit art, that featured in the artist’s series ‘Made in Heaven’. The couple moved to New York, married in 1991, and had a son Ludwig in 1992. The following year the pair separated. Koons filed for divorce, and custody of his son, and Staller fled to Rome with Ludwig. It was three months before Koons located the whereabouts of his son. A lengthy custody battle ensued. The artist won custody in 1998, but Ludwig remained with Staller in Italy. In 2008, Staller filed a lawsuit against Koons for failing to pay child support.
