7. Andy Warhol – Silver Car Crash [Double Disaster]
The most expensive work by the most famous legend of Pop Art, Andy Warhol’s monumental “Silver Car Crash” was the star of a Contemporary Art evening sale at Sotheby’s for £69.1 million. The work depicts a body twisted in the mangled interior of a silver car. It was the last work by artist that was left in private hands. The painting is 8 by 13 foot in dimensions, and was displayed only once in public in the last 26 years.
