1. Jake & Dinos Chapman – Nein, Nein, Nein 2011 (see video below)
The dastardly art siblings Jake and Dinos Chapman, who have made a name for themselves creating offensive artwork, added to this notoriety with their contribution to the Grundy Art Gallery’s exhibition “Doug Fishbone and Friends: Adventureland Golf,” in which they created a statue of Adolf Hitler as a golf ornament that raised its arm in full Nazi salute when a golf ball went through it. According to BBC News at the time, a British Jewish organisation was not happy with the work. Michael Samuels of the Board of Deputies of British Jews said the work “had absolutely no artistic value whatsoever.” Gallery curator Stuart Tulloch responded that the work was an opportunity to “ridicule” Hitler. This was not the first time that the Chapman brothers had used Hitler as subject matter. The artists 2008 show at White Cube gallery in London, “If Hitler Had Been a Hippy How Happy Would We Be,” presented 13 watercolours purportedly painted by Adolf Hitler, which the Chapman brothers “prettified” by adding hippy motifs.
