4. Simon Starling – Winner, 2005
Shedboatshed (Mobile Architecture No 2) 2005 was a work created by dismantling a shed and turning it into a boat; loaded with the remains of the shed, the boat was paddled down the Rhine to a museum in Basel, dismantled and re-made into a shed. Both pilgrimages, provided a kind of buttress against the pressures of modernity, mass production and global capitalism. But I doubt the Stuckists would agree, they would claim that conceptually it was full of holes.
