Dame Julia Peyton-Jones the former co-director of the Serpentine Gallery in London, for over 25 years, has been appointed Senior Global Director of Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac. Peyton-Jones will take on her ambassadorial and curatorial role on 1 September 2017, and will be based in London, where the gallery opened a new space in Mayfair earlier this year.

During her time as Director of the Serpentine Galleries from 1991 to 2016, Julia Peyton-Jones worked with many of the world’s leading artists on ground-breaking exhibitions, education, public programmes and projects, transforming the Serpentine in London into an internationally acclaimed visual arts institution. In 2000, she initiated the Serpentine’s innovative architecture programme by commissioning a renowned architect to design a Pavilion each summer.
Having won many awards and honours for her achievements at the Serpentine, Julia Peyton-Jones was appointed Officer Order of the British Empire in 2003 and Dame Commander of the British Empire in 2016. Peyton-Jones now serves on the boards of a number of public and not-for-profit organisations and she is a sought-after speaker on art, architecture and creative leadership.
