Arts for a Better World (AFABW), which promotes the arts as a change agent for social responsibility, will return for its third edition during Art Basel Miami Beach 2012 with Overture, its newly designed and enhanced international platform for contemporary art. In addition to a dynamic group of international galleries, the central exhibit to be featured will be one unmatched in the history of art fairs, “100 Warhols, an Overview: Painting, Drawing, Collage, Unique Work on Paper, Trial Proofs and Edition Prints,” presented in association with Overture’s cultural partner Taglialatella Galleries. With expected foot-traffic of more than 30,000, this high-wattage edition is anticipated to be Overture’s largest and most attended to date.

The exhibition will celebrate the iconic artist’s accomplishments and contributions as a leading figure of the American Pop Art movement and features works in a variety of media from Warhol’s early years to his final paintings, including classic pieces and some works rarely before exhibited to the public. Among the seldom-seen works to be included is the Flash—November 22, 1963 portfolio in its entirety, which Warhol created in 1968 in response to the national trauma of John F. Kennedy’s assassination.  A rare, large-scale portrait of ’80s pop star and fashion icon Debbie Harry and an intimate rendering of Archie, the artist’s much loved dachshund, will also be presented to the collectors during these 5 exceptional days.

“As we prepare for our third edition of Overture Art Fair, we are excited to present a new and enhanced platform of contemporary art… We could not think of a more powerful feature than this spectacular tribute to Andy Warhol, presented in collaboration with cultural partner Taglialatella Galleries,” said Sandrine Kukurudz, co-founder, AFABW.“More than ever, we believe in our mission of being the only international art fair to strongly and consistently promote corporate social responsibility by using the arts as a vehicle for positive change. That is why we are launching our ‘Sponsor a School Art Program’ in 2012 for our exhibitors and for the art community at large,” added Rod Kukurudz, co-founder, AFABW.

AFABW will leverage the power of the most prestigious art week in the U.S. to launch its “Sponsor a School Art Program,” an important effort to encourage the art community at large to launch art programs in underprivileged schools in their communities. This is a fitting project for Overture, the only art fair during Art Basel Miami Beach with a truly socially responsible mission statement. Through its efforts and key partnerships, the goal of AFABW is to inspire galleries all around the world to contribute and invest toward the future of our children. As a result of this collective effort, not only is AFABW contributing toward the development of the next great artist, collector and art historian, but also toward a global and tolerant citizen.
