ONE WORLD is an exhibition of paintings curated by Paul Carey-Kent by three British artists: Hannah Luxton, Joe Packer and Fiona G Roberts, whose combined work creates One World. Joe Packer makes abstractions from landscape, dense with form and colour, devoid of horizons. Fiona G Roberts paints female heads, where people create their own internal world. Hannah Luxton focusses on the remote natural world. Her paintings are meditations on its immensity.
‘These three artists create a world between them, from subterranean to human to celestial. It’s over to us to arrive at our personal take on it. Are they dealing with how we relate to nature? The political in the personal? The future of the planet? Perhaps. I’m reminded of TS Eliot in the Four Quartets: What might have been is an abstraction / Remaining a perpetual possibility / Only in a world of speculation.’ ~ PCK
Held at Aleph Contemporary At The Bindery, Farringdon’s stylish newly restored Art Déco building and now home to Faber & Faber, this exhibition presents new works ranging from figurative to abstract expression. All the works in the show are well-priced making this a fantastic opportunity for art buyers who want to start or build up collections of significant emerging contemporary art. Hannah Luxton studied her Masters the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL (2010-12) and her BA at Kingston University (2007-09). In 2022 she was elected into the prestiguous art collective, The London Group (est. 1913). She is Director and curator of the window gallery, Glass Cloud Gallery, London. Residencies and expeditions into the wilderness inspire Luxton’s work. Notably, in 2019 she embarked on a three month research trip across Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and southern California. In 2018 she completed a research trip to the north of Iceland, after first discovering the country through The F ljotstunga Travel Farm Residency Iceland Award in 2015. Previous to this she was awarded the Trelex Residency, Switzerland (2013).

Luxton’s work has received support and recognition from Camden Council (2022, 2019), The Arts Council England (2020, 2018), The British Painting Prize (2019), Dentons Art Prize (2019), The Creekside Open (2017), Betty Malcolm Scholarship, UCL (2012), The Worshipful Company of Painter- Stainers and the Lynn Foundation (2011). Her paintings are held in private collections in the UK, Iceland, the USA and Australia including the Tinie & De Hann collection.
Joe Packer was awarded the Contemporary British Painting prize in 2018. Current and recent exhibitions include Unseen at the Towner Gallery, Eastbourne until May 2023. He received an MA in painting from the Royal College of Art 1992-94 and a BA from Norwich School of Art 1989-92. He lives and works in St Leonard’s, East Sussex.
Fiona G. Roberts has an MA, Painting, from Wimbledon College of Arts, University of the Arts London, where she was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship. She has also completed two years at the TurpsBanana Painting School (2019-2021) on the offsite painting programme. She has had work shortlisted for the Jerwood Drawing Prize; Ingram Collection’s Contemporary Talent Prize; Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize, 2018 and 2019 and Dentons Art Prize, where she was runner-up and also won the Staff Prize. She was also shortlisted for the Ruth Borchard Self Portrait Prize 2021 and the 2021 Figurative Art Now Exhibition, where she
was awarded a Mentorship Prize. Her work was exhibited in the 2021 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. About Aleph Contemporary Aleph Contemporary supports the most exciting emerging artists in the early stages of their career, many of whom go on to show internationally and gain recognition.
