Hot on the heels of the Princess Zeid show at Tate Modern, which runs until October 8th, is a much smaller and shorter-lived exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery, by an artist also Middle Eastern, royal, and female, which runs only until August 18th. The artist is splendidly entitled Khawala Bint Ahmed Bint Kahalifa Al Suwaida.

The Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A) have announced DesignLab Nation, a national programme to support design education for 11 to 16-year-olds, working with regional museums. It will use the Art Fund Museum of the Year 2016 prize money to fund an ambitious national schools programme, DesignLab Nation, to help revive art and design education in secondary schools.

The Newport Street Gallery has announced their next solo exhibition which follows Gavin Turk’s successful exhibition at Damien Hirst’s private Art Gallery. Ashley Bickerton an American artist (b.1959), will display work spanning more than three decades of his career and features almost 50 works, including both new and previously unexhibited pieces.

Art Basel, which is now in its 48th edition has released an impressive gallery list for the fair in Basel, Switzerland, which takes place from June 15 to June 18, 2017. This year, 291 leading international galleries will present works ranging from the early 20th century to contemporary artists. The Basel show, whose Lead Partner is UBS, will present galleries from 34 countries and six continents.

The author, Philip Hook, is extremely well qualified to deal with his chosen subject since he has spent many years as an auctioneer, working first for Christie’s, then as a senior director at Sotheby’s, where he is currently a board member.
