Art Night 2021

Art Night 2021

Art Night is a contemporary art festival, taking place across the UK in 2021 for the first time. The previous 4 festivals happened over one evening in a different London neighbourhood – central London, Whitechapel, the Southbank and Walthamstow.

Curated by Helen Nisbet, Art Night 2021 marks the festival’s fifth edition. To celebrate, Art Night will be extending its run-time to a full month from 18 June to 18 July and will take place throughout the UK.

Through collaborating with partners in towns, cities and villages across the whole country, Art Night is moving towards a more devolved, decentralised and distributed way of working.

The festival will continue to put artists and their ideas at the forefront of the programme, towards creating an interconnected, international network for artists, art institutions and audiences.

Art Night 2021 is titled Nothing Compares 2U, after the song penned by Prince and most famously performed by Sinead O’Connor. The programme takes inspiration from defiance in small acts and moments of self-determination, both personal and collective.

The 2021 programme features ambitious, new commissions by: Oona Doherty, Sonya Dyer, Adham Faramawy, Guerrilla Girls, Mark Leckey, Isabel Lewis, Imran Perretta & Paul Purgas, Philomène Pirecki, OOMK, and Alberta Whittle.
