Peter Howson’s career is recognised nationally and internationally. His representation of the male human form is often exaggerated to reflect the levels of cruelty and fear we human beings so often inflict on each other. In 1993 he was commissioned to be the official British war artist in the Bosnian war, where he witnessed and accurately painted much inhumanity to mankind. This is the first of a series of ‘In Focus’ exhibitions that examine one artist and one work. Ben Uri explores his ‘Holocaust Crowd Scene 11’ from 2011, which is both haunting and reflective of his past experiences.
