White Cube Bermondsey presents ‘No realm of thought… No field of vision’, an exhibition of new work by Cerith Wyn Evans. Featuring installation, sculpture and painting, on show throughout all of the gallery’s spaces, the work foregrounds the artist’s long-standing exploration of transcendence, translation and temporality.
Evans’ practice can be considered a process of transposition, whereby elements such as text, code, light and sound are compressed, extended, inverted and multiplied. Drawing on the erotic resonance and potential of mechanised forms, the works in this exhibition interweave juxtaposed narratives and skewed perspectives. Suspended, obscuring, mirroring and reflexive, his works encourage a synaesthetic experience, interrogating a ‘Phenomenology of Perception’ played out across visual, spatial and aural dimensions.
Please Note: From 16 June 2020 White Cube Bermondsey is operating with reduced opening hours and timed visiting slots to limit gallery capacity. This should make social distancing easier and reduce queues to see our exhibitions. Plan ahead by reading the COVID-19 FAQ’s.
