To celebrate the arrival of summer, this show is inspired by a sentence of Gio Ponti published in his book Aria d’Italia, where he wrote that everything at the sea has to be colourful (Mediterranean law). The exhibition includes a selection of objects and furniture designed by Gio Ponti, but realised by the mastery of his many manufacturers and artisan, “the agile hands” as he would call them, that will give life to a kaleidoscope of colours and revolutionary shapes for the Italian design. Glass bottles realised in Venini’s furnace in Murano, his historical chairs Leggera and Superleggera, and, for the first time exhibited in London, the unique piece gate-sculpture in iron, created in 1967. These objects, furniture,
drawing and unique pieces from the 1920s to the 1970s will be exhibited with works by themost loved artists by Gio Ponti: Lucio Fontana, Leoncillo and Fausto Melotti.
