Rosemarie Trockel: Why gravel, Ms Smith?

This solo exhibition presents new works by Rosemarie Trockel. On view are new and recent ceramic works, a previously unseen Cluster consisting of digitally reconfigured photographs as well as two new variants of key themes and forms, including the debut of a ndw series consisting of photographic prints rendered as oil paintings.

In her practice, Trockel investigates questions that emerge from artistic processes as well as societal issues by integrating the reinterpretation of ‘feminine’ techniques and crafts (such as ceramics), the ironic shifting of cultural codes, and the refusal to conform to the commercial and institutional ideologies of the art system.
