Nowhere is this more visible than on the floors of the world’s leading art fairs. TEFAF Maastricht, Frieze, and Art Basel are more than glorified trade fairs. They are arenas where artistic innovation meets the fervour of collectors, industry insiders, and critics.
Walking through an art fair is an education in connoisseurship. It is here that one sees the art world at work in its natural habitat: the conversations, the negotiations, the moments when a work finds its audience. This is also a place to see what actually sells to collectors; their decisions ricochet through the marquees, the ultimate barometer.
Each pavilion offers its own logic, its own flavour. You encounter the familiar and the unfamiliar in equal measure, discovering artists you may follow for decades.
