What does George W. Bush, Winston Churchill, Prince Charles and Adolf Hitler have in common? Answer: All were keen amateur painters.
Dubya. may not be the most original of painters but Bonnie Flood, Bush’s current art teacher said; “He started off painting dogs. I think he said he painted 50 dogs. He pulled out this canvas and started painting dogs and I thought, ‘Oh my God, I don’t paint dogs!” She added; “Bush has a passion for painting” There are two nudes among his creations one is a self-portrait in the shower the other a rendition of the former Commander in Chief in the bath. Both are reminiscent of A – level student work. Flood says, “The President learned quickly and soon started painting fewer dogs and more landscapes”. “He has such a passion for painting, it’s amazing,” Flood said. “He’s going to go down in the history books as a great artist.”
Flood met the former president while conducting workshops in Georgia. The next thing she knew, she was invited to spend a month in Boca Grande Florida with President Bush, a local Cummings paper reported. They also added “that she spent about six hours a day with the President, mixing paints and teaching him proper brush strokes. She says she wasn’t intimidated but admits she really didn’t know what to call him until she found the magic number”.
The President signs all of his work with a trademark ’43’. Sounds cryptic eh? But those in the know recall that he was the 43rd President of the United States of America. Glancing at auction records for political leader’s art, there is a ready market for it. Prices have been recorded in the tens of thousands for work by Churchill and Hitler. Will W. achieve these sort of prices? It is expected that he will be exhibiting in the near future. Watch this space!!!
