SAS Secret Apartment returns with a new lineup for the closing week of the Venice Biennale: Foreigners Everywhere.
This modular exhibition designed for the opening and closing weeks of the historic 60th Venice Biennale reopens for its second and last viewing on Monday, 18th November, at a secret location in the hub of iconic Arsenale. Curated and devised by Ann Grim, this unique artist-led project captures the mini zeitgeist in the life of 14 contemporary artists entrapped in the absurd, hyper-militant, schizophrenic world we currently inhabit. Exploring the themes of biology, waste, science, memory, power politics, identity, unbearable sex and inevitable war, the works in situ express and divulge ambiguous destinations for humanity whilst simultaneously investigating the tension space between real and imagined.
A set of site-specific ideas designed for the interior horizontally collide with artworks in all media, which are carefully integrated across the rooms of this labyrinthine anarchitecture. This is the timeline of the 5th dimension in which faith is tested, knowledge is dangerous, and the future is compromised. These rebellious artworks obviously challenge the status quo, and It is the incoherences, absurdities and visual conundrums that make this unique site-specific exhibition a surprising, playful, sometimes controversial but mostly immersive, contemplative visual challenge. This exhibition features sensitive content and is by appointment only#
