The Chinese dissident artist and activist Ai Weiwei will return to New York with gallery shows covering four venues. He will utilise the public exhibitions as a metaphor for his travel ban in China as well as the U.S. attitudes towards immigration under the leadership of Donald Trump.

Established London Galleries Vilma Gold and Ibid To Close Their Doors

Established London galleries Vilma Gold and Ibid are to shut their London spaces. Vilma Gold announced yesterday that it will close to concentrate on what they call “a new model of collaboration” with its artists. Rachel Williams, the gallery owner and director, who started the business alongside Steve Pippett in 2000 said they would “continue to work on behalf of the gallery artists.”

The next two occupants of the so-called Fourth Plinth Commission in Trafalgar Square have just been announced and, true to form, the British visual arts establishment has laboured and given birth to a mouse. Or, to be fair, to two mice, one of them just slightly larger than the other. I speak not in terms of size, but in those of probable effect.

Andy Warhol Museum Names Patrick Moore As New Director

The Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh have announced that Patrick Moore has been named the Director of The Andy Warhol Museum. Moore joined the museum in 2011 as director of development and went on to serve as deputy director and managing director before being named the interim director in 2016.
