The Ben Uri Gallery in London has just come up with a new operation model, better suited to the needs of relatively small outfits, such as itself. Or should I say that those who run it have been savvy enough to recognise that the contemporary art world has been massively changed.

The first museum exhibition of Jankel Adler’s works in Britain since the Arts Council memorial show in 1951 will open in London on 3 June.
Exhibition open daily 11am to 5pm from 3 to 16 June and the following four Mondays 17 and 24 June and 1 and 8 July
The Ben Uri Gallery and Museum, known internationally for its extensive collection of Jewish immigrant art is to sell off part of its permanent collection to fund wider plans to include immigrant and refugee artists from all global backgrounds.

Ben Uri curators Rachel Dickson and Sarah MacDougall have curated this major survey of the artist David Bomberg (1890-1957) in recognition of the 60th anniversary of the artist’s death.

Focusing on the contribution made by the largest migrant community to 20th/21st Century British Art, this exhibition highlights the work of Polish artists who have worked and continue to work in Britain. Featured artists include: Jankel Adler, Janina Baranowska, Marian Bohusz-Szyszko, Stanislaw Frenkiel, Feliks Topolski and Alfred Wolmark, complemented by contemporary practitioners working in London now.

Art works and archival material by an array of both celebrated and lesser-known German-born refugee artists, principally from the Ben Uri Collection.

The exhibition brings together rarely-seen works, predominantly oils on paper, together with a selection of lively drawings from the artist’s sketchbooks, the majority from private collections, covering all the major motifs of Frankfurther’s brief career in 1950’s Britain.

The Ben Uri Gallery and Museum started life as an Art Society founded by Jewish émigrés in London’s Whitechapel 1915 and is the oldest Jewish cultural organisation in the UK. To mark its centenary, the gallery is staging a celebratory exhibition in Somerset House (2 July-13 December 2015).
