Compass 2018: Live Art And Interactive Encounters Across Leeds

The biennial Compass Festival in Leeds, a ten-day programme of live art encounters and interaction returns this week. Artistic Directors Annie Lloyd and Peter Reed promise an ‘Extensive City Centre takeover’ following the 2016 festival which attracted nearly 10,000 artists, participants and onlookers.

Twenty-one video and film installations, 11 hours plus of imagery created by today’s most radical image makers and at the beginning is an installation that takes us back to the beginning by mixing scientific history with Creation stories belonging to religious (Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Christian, Islamic, etc.), hermetic (Kabbalah, Freemasonry, etc.), and oral (Dogon, Inuit, Navajo, etc.) traditions.

Second Hepworth Prize For Sculpture Exhibition Unveiled In October

In October 2018 the Hepworth Wakefield launches the second Hepworth Prize Sculpture exhibition. This year’s shortlisted artists are Michael Dean, Mona Hatoum, Phillip Lai, Magali Reus and Cerith Wyn Evans. Each artist has created a new work for display in the exhibition.
