4. Seedbed By Vito Acconci
The notorious performance artist Vito Acconci, created a work that still remains just a little controversial. In his 1972 performance Seedbed, the American artist constructed a false floor in a New York art gallery and hid beneath it. Speakers relayed his voice into the gallery. As visitors walked over the wooden floor, they heard him murmuring sexual fantasies about them while masturbating. The artist’s reason for the action was that he was evoking the paranoia of the Nixon era.
